HILT PROJECTS produces dynamic and refined visual work for experiential marketing campaigns, retail environments, fine artists, and events.
Ben Lawrence and Sam Murray founded HiLT Projects in 2014. Their studio is located in Brooklyn, NY.
About the owners:
Ben Lawrence earned his BFA from the University of Massachusetts in 1996. He soon moved to Brooklyn after apprenticing for a furniture designer specializing in fabrication techniques with metal, wood, and glass. Freelancing as an art fabricator, set builder, and prop stylist, Ben expanded his capabilities with new mediums and approaches, ultimately informing his current role at HiLT. Ben has worked with several esteemed artists such as Cecily Brown, James Nares, Peter Wegner, and Vera Lutter. He has contributed to photo sets for Richard Avedon, Steven Meisel, and David Lachapelle.
Sam Murray grew up in Scotland. After graduating with a BA in Fine Art Photography from the Glasgow School of Art in 1999, he moved to Brooklyn in 2001 in an effort to merge photography with his love for design and hands-on fabrication. As a photo assistant he worked for photographers in all disciplines; fashion, architecture, interiors, still life, portraiture, and travel. He also fabricated window displays for high-end clients. Developing a strength for balancing and composing space — and how these elements relate — Sam naturally gravitated to building the sets himself.
In 2008, Ben and Sam recognized a common thread between their work as studio neighbors. They quickly joined forces and formed a new studio. Their interest in developing fabrication techniques and exploring new materials has been the driving force behind their work. HiLT Projects encapsulates the same creative energy since the days of its inception — with a production portfolio of varied, captivating, and highly original work.
